December is a full birthday month for us … and this coming Sunday is my mama’s 60th birthday! (Hopefully she doesn’t mind me sharing her age … it’s a milestone and everyone always says she looks younger than her age anyway!)
After celebrating Maverick’s birthday yesterday—which is also my mother-in-law’s birthday—we have my mama’s big day on Sunday. Then my nephew on the 29th. I have several cousins born in December as well as my late-grandmother, too! Something about those Sagittarius/Capricorns, they’re aplenty in our life!
I wanted to take some time on the blog today to ask you to help me wish my mama a happy birthday. And what is a birthday around here without a little photo-tour. Shall we go around the world this time?
This was a girls' trip my mama and I took to Whistler with two of my aunties. We drove up from my place in North Vancouver and had a lovely weekend away together, exploring the winter ski-village just a few hours north of Vancouver.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
On the infamous trip where I met Brad, my mom and I had a lovely vacation together, goofing around and being silly, reading books on the beach together and having a few too many drinks watching the nightly show. It was a trip to remember!
This one isn't really a vacation, but Brad and I did travel to Prince George from our home in Port Coquitlam to surprise my mom for her 50th birthday. I couldn't find any pictures of the two of us, so this one of the birthday girl in a sombrero will have to do!
In 2015, when Archer was just about a year old, we travelled to visit family in Croatia and Bosnia i Herzegovina with my parents. I remember specifically asking for Brad to take the first picture, a nice picture with my mama. The second is the group of us in Rabac, Croatia, at the very end of our trip. Take me back!
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Our most recent trip together was to the Dominican Republic and it's the most recent picture I have of us together, too! We're long overdue for a family trip, and there have been many in between these pictured. But this one was special because I know my mom loves surprises, and this was a trip where we surprised her when we got there!
Spending the holidays apart these days is hard, so is celebrating big milestones like this one. Mama, on this day you become an elder—well, on Sunday, but you know what I mean—I hope you embrace the day and spend it doing things that you love.
We love you and miss you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Anya, Brad, Archer & Maverick
